The Východná Folklore Festival is the oldest and most extensive national festival with international participation in our territory. Every year, on the threshold of the summer tourist season, on the first weekend of July, rich folk traditions come to life in an attractive environment near the High and Low Tatras, and the distinctive village of Východná becomes the center of Slovak culture for several days.
Východná is a celebration of folklore and its existence significantly contributes to the revival, preservation, creative development and public presentation of the precious values of our cultural treasury. Folklore is deeply rooted in the traditions and culture of the Slovak nation, which is why every contact can evoke in us the joy of meeting each other and revive not only history, but also feelings. Become a part of this celebration.

The Važecká jaskyňa cave, which is located on the southern edge of the village of Važec, is the most visited natural landmark of the upper Liptov region. The cave is counted among the best-known paleontological sites as far as discoveries of bones of the cave bear are concerned.

On the right side of the valley Demänovská dolina below the northern slopes of the mountains Nízke Tatry is another cave open to public - Demänovská ľadová jaskyňa.
Demänovská jaskyňa slobody is part of the huge underground karst system in the valley Demänovská dolina below the Nízke Tatry Mts. It boasts a unique drip stone ornamentation, which makes it one of the most beautiful caves of Europe.
Roháče are often and justly praised as the most beautiful part of the West Tatras. A crown of wonderful peaks dominated by the majestic Baníkov Mt. surrounds the extensive Roháčska dolina valley. In turn, the Ostrý Roháč and Volovec Mts. are the princes of the Roháče Mts. They form an indivisible couple of slender rock mountains in the principal ridge and look like two devils horns, expressed by their names (Ostrý Roháč means a sharp horn and Volovec means an ox).

The Tatralandia Holiday Resort is the largest year-round water park with accommodation in all of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland. The modern thermal park is built in the wonderful surrounding of Orava, close to the border with Poland. The highly mineralized thermal water, which springs in the depth of more than 1 kilometre, works curing/healing on psychic and stress and is used/utilised in balneotherapy.
Museum of Liptov Village is the most attractive landmark of the Liptov region. It displays the typical folk architecture. The impetus behind the establishing of the museum was the extensive flooding caused by the construction of the Liptovská Mara dam.
Most of us think that mining and metallurgy involve very hard work, but when talking about these industries, we also imagine the little miner dwarfs, so-called „permoník“, who belong to every legend about mining; if these miner dwarfs disappear, the wealth from the mines will fade away as well.
The Castle Hrádok built on a small hill near the river Belá is situated in the town Liptovský Hrádok in the north of Slovakia. Though several versions of a story narrating the origin of the castle exist, one thing is certain: the first reference to the castle is from 1341.

The outskirts of the town of Liptovský Mikuláš are quietly guarded from the north-eastward by the hill Háj. At this place you can find the commemorative area with a cemetery and the war memorial dedicated to soldiers who were killed particularly in the spring 1945. This place should remain the symbol of patriotism which helped to resist fascism even at the cost of losing soldiers’ lives.
Slovakia-wide specialized museum focused on nature protection and speleology in Slovakia. It includes the following permanent expositions: Protected Nature, Minerals - Their Occurrence, Utilisation, Protection, Karst and Caves of Slovakia.
The building that houses the museum is one of the most distinctive buildings of the square in the town of Liptovský Mikuláš. It has several names - the County House (Stoličný House), the Illešházy Manor House and the Seliga's House. It features a triple arch that is unusual for the town and stands out from the rest of the buildings on the square's western side.
The wooden articled Evangelical church near the village Svätý Kríž is one of the largest wooden buildings in the Central Europe which was moved here from Paludza between 1974 and 1982.
The Late Gothic wooden church of St Elizabeth is the dominant structure in the Museum of the Orava village - open air museum situated only 3 kilometres away of Zuberec near Brestová. It stands in cemetery in the middle of wonderful mountain scenery. The church was originally built in the 19th century and moved here in the 20th century from village Zábrež.
Three kilometres away from Zuberec, at Brestová, a unique open-air Museum of the Orava Village (Múzeum oravskej dediny) can be visited. Over an area of about 20 hectares, and on both sides of the crystal clean Studený potok brook, is a village containing the typical folk buildings moved here from various regions of Orava.
