Exhibition UPoints

The Podtatranske Museum in Poprad, a cultural institution under the authority of the Prešov Self-Government Unit and the Spiš Artists' Gallery invite you to the banner exhibition U-POINTS/Utilitarian points of the Spiš region.

The research project of the Spiš Gallery of Artists, a cultural institution of the Košice self-government unit, under the name U-POINTS / Utilitarian points of the Spiš region (utility – urban – unique) brings for the first time a comprehensive list of sculptural realizations in public space in the territory of the Spiš region with comprehensive photo documentation, defining their location and attribution of authorship.

The territory of the Spiš region hides "unseen" sculptural objects, forgotten over time and merging in a changing environment, which were created from the 1950s to the present day. These sculptural realizations represent the mirror of the times and characterize society's approach to the application of visual arts in public space.

Fine arts incorporated to the public space of cities is the art of the most mass audience.

The banner exhibition presents 89 selected sculptural works by 64 authors from the districts of Spišská Nová Ves, Gelnica, Kežmarok, Levoča, Poprad and Stará Ľubovňa. Each banner contains an identifier - a QR code with a direct link to a web page with additional information.

The exhibition takes place in the exterior of the Podtatranske museum in Poprad, Vajanského 72/4 Poprad from July 12, 2023 to October 15, 2023, during the opening hours of the museum Tuesday - Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
