Ždiar - typical Goral community
ŽDIAR is a typical Goral community situated between the mountains of the Belianske Tatry and Spišská Magura. It is a tourist centre and the starting point for trips to the mountains Belianske Tatry.
The Encián Gallery located at an altitude of 1751 metres is the second highest in Europe and the highest location in Central Europe as well as in Slovakia.
The Encián was built on the banks of Skalnaté pleso mountain lake from 1936 to 1937 according to the design of the architect Dušan Samuel Jurkovič. Formerly, the upper station of the suspended cable railway from Tatranská Lomnica, it later also started to serve as a valley station for the cable railway to the peak Lomnický štít.
Apart from its technological background, this building also had a restaurant and an accommodation part. When in the 70´s a new cable railway was built from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté pleso with a separate building, the Encián did not benefit by it. In 1999, the operation of the suspended cable railway from Tatranská Lomnica was terminated, and in 2011 the last columns were dismounted. The operation of the cable railway was finally over.

The Važecká jaskyňa cave, which is located on the southern edge of the village of Važec, is the most visited natural landmark of the upper Liptov region. The cave is counted among the best-known paleontological sites as far as discoveries of bones of the cave bear are concerned.

One of the best preserved Slovak wooden sacral buildings is the articled Evangelical Church of the Holy Trinity (Kostol sv. Tojice) in Kežmarok. In 2008, along with seven wooden churches of the Slovak part of Carpathian Mountain Area, it was included on the UNESCO Word Heritage List.

OSTURŇA is a typical Goral village in a wide valley of the Osturniansky potok brook. It is probably the longest village extending over the banks of a brook in Slovakia. There are many original Goral buildings preserved in the commune.
