One of the most remarkable discoveries in Slovakia took place in the locality Myšia Hôrka in administrative territory of Spišský Štvrtok (district Poprad). Archaeologists dug out here the remains of a stone town from about 3,500 years ago.
The discovered old settlement at Myšia Hôrka stretches on an area of 6,600 m2. It bears many traits, which testified to an advanced level of its inhabitants. The settlement is closed within a bulky defensive system with stonewalls, bastions, ramparts and dikes. Part of this settlement is acropolis, which was used as a cult place.
The historic settlement near Spišský Štvrtok was undoubtedly of urban character. The people of Ottoman culture inhabited the stone town below the Tatra Mountains about 3,500 years ago. The town protected the old trade road which connected the Baltic lands with the Mediterranean countries and led through what is today the Slovak region Spiš.
Authorities are now reconsidering the possibility to make the archaeological locality at Myšia Hôrka accessible to public.

One of the best preserved Slovak wooden sacral buildings is the articled Evangelical Church of the Holy Trinity (Kostol sv. Tojice) in Kežmarok. In 2008, along with seven wooden churches of the Slovak part of Carpathian Mountain Area, it was included on the UNESCO Word Heritage List.
The dominant of the town Kežmarok is the Castle Kežmarský hrad that has entered the history of tourism in the High Tatras as the salient point of the first known tourist trip to this mountain range.
The local part of Spišská Belá - Strážky in the east of Slovakia today represents a complete compound of cultural and historical monuments. The manor house in Strážky is a gem of the Renaissance architecture in Slovakia.
