The Branč Castle

Fans of history will certainly visit the ruins of the Branč Castle towering on the easily discernible cone-shaped hill at the altitude of 475 m above the village Podbranč north-east of Senica in south-west of Slovakia.

Jozef Miloslav Hurban Memorial room is another external exposition of the Museum of Záhorie in Skalica. It was created in 1982 and is situated in the building of a former church school.

In the cadastre of Dechtice, in the forests of Malé Karpaty, there are ruins of the Church and Monastery of St. Catherine. The monastery founded by count Cristopher Erdödy in 1618 at the place where St. Catherine allegedly revealed herself to the young count and hermit - Ján Appony - belonged to the Franciscan order.
The village Cerová lies below the Malé Karpaty Mts. in the south-west of Slovakia. It is one of the starting points for the trip to the ruins of the Korlátka Castle built in the mid-13th century. As a Royal Castle, it protected the western frontier of the Kingdom of Hungary.
The museum is a part of the Military Historical Institute and has its seat at the premises of a former military airport in Piešťany. The Exposition of Czechoslovak military Armature from the years 1945 to 1992 is the permanent exposition of the Military Museum Piešťany. The museum was opened on 25th of September 2004, after its removal from the exposition in Trenčín.
On top of the hill Kostolec on the edge of the mountain range Považský Inovec next to the village Ducové near Piešťany there stood once a fortified site of a Great Moravian magnate. Today remains of the fort offer a wonderful view of the lower part of region Považie.

The initiator and founder of this museum was the local doctor Pavol Blaho, patriot, lover of Slovak folk art who, on September 30 and October 1, 1905, made available his collection of art, folk art and historical objects. He aimed to boost the confidence of both farmers and craftsmen and strengthen the process of national unification.
