Vineyards coat the environs of Levice. They are sprinkled with small houses and cellars called here hajlochy. Most of them are situated in the locality of Stará hora near SEBECHLEBY on the southern foothills of the Štiavnické vrchy Mts.
This local popular architecture is protected and consists of typical single or two-room wine growers houses with pillar porches and cellars carved into the tuff rock. There are more than hundred houses from the 18th and 19th centuries in the area. Original cellars, which along with the local church are part of the Monument Reserve of Popular Architecture, can be also visited.
The visit to a cellar, as for instance that of St Urban, includes testing of the local wine accompanied by some speciality of the typical cuisine.
The commune Sebechleby maintains its special and typical folklore. The locals stick to their traditional costumes and apparently are not willing to give up their old usage either.
A unique, although not very long canyon-like valley called the Carpenter's Gorge lies in the cadastre of the village of Hontianske Tesáre, in the southern part of the Krupina district. The valley was formed by cutting a local watercourse over rocks of volcanic origin. Sedimentation - sedimentation and stratification of rocks - is clearly visible on the local rock walls.
Arboretum Kysihýbel in the administrative territory of Banská Štiavnica (central Slovakian town inscribed in the List of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage) is the unique experimental forestry area specialized in rapidly growing exotic wood species.
In the village of Banský Studenec there are two lakes lying next to each other - the so-called Kolpašské. These are artificial tanks - tajchy - which were built for the needs of mining. They are currently used for fishing (especially the smaller ones), but also for summer recreation (especially the larger ones). Although the lakes are also called Studenské (after the village of Banský Studenec), they belong to the warmest secrets of Banská Štiavnica. The water in them is controlled, of sufficient quality for bathing. There are changing cabins on the shores of Lake Kolpaš. However, facilities providing services to holidaymakers are not here. The location will be appreciated especially by visitors looking for quiet, little visited natural swimming pools.
