In Kysuce village Korňa, you will not find any oil tycoons who would become rich thanks to „black gold“. However, you can find there the unique oil spring, which is the only preserved spring among similar smaller oil surface outflows in the central Europe. The picturesque village of Korňa is situated in the Čadca district, near the town of Turzovka, in Beskydy Mountains.
Tourists like this place not only because it is near the Czech and Polish borders, but mainly because it is a paradise for people who enjoy picking mushrooms and forest berries. What is more, in Vigľaš you can find the highest lime in Kysuce.
However, it is Korňa Oil Spring that remains the European curiosity. It is a natural oil surface spring with sporadic outflow of self-igniting methane. In 1994 the spring was declared a natural monument. In the past, oil from the spring was used by local people for greasing of carts, footwear, for lighting and also for healing of livestock skin diseases. Till this day, the rumour has been going round that the spring was found by a jack lighter called Žúbor, when he was hunting deer and that the devils from the surrounding forests go and drink the "black water" at night.
The Súľovské skaly rocks forming an attractive rock town are situated in the north-west of Slovakia, only several kilometres from Žilina. Interesting landforms in form of rock towers, needles, windows and gates separated by deep waterless gorges, ravines and valleys are the results of action of rain, ice, and wind, in other words – chemical and mechanical weathering.
Kysuce used to be a region whose tinkers travelled all over the world with their panniers on their backs. It is not surprising that a beautiful monument to commemorate them was built in Turzovka. The tinker´s craft has a more than 400 year-old tradition in Kysuce. The famous Kysuce tinkers, when looking for work, sometimes got very far from their native country.
The Kysuce Museum in Čadca is a regional museum focused on national history and geography. At the same time, it is also a specialized museum with Slovakia-wide competence concerning the documentation of the development of forest railways in Slovakia for museum purposes.
The Kysuce Regional Gallery was founded in 1981, with its seat being located in the Town House on Hlinkova Street in the town of Čadca. It has a branch in the manor house in Oščadnica.
Visitors of north-western Slovakia often go to see the manor house in Bytča, the product of the Renaissance architecture. It is one of the few Renaissance manor houses in Slovakia, which kept its original appearance free from any alterations or modifications.
West of Žilina near the Váh river, the ruins of what was originally the Romanesque Hričovský hrad Castle exist. It is one of the oldest castles in the middle part of the region of Považie.
The Museum of Považie in Žilina is situated in the premises of the Budatín Castle on the northern outskirts of Žilina.

Bábkové divadlo Žilina je najstaršie profesionálne bábkové divadlo na Slovensku. V roku 2015 oslávuje 65 rokov existencie.
Je najvýznamnejším a najstarším objektom v meste. S veľkou pravdepodobnosťou v blízkosti a na mieste dnešného kostola stál od 13. storočia hrad, o čom máme písomné správy od roku 1318 do roku 1454.
Mestské divadlo Žilina sídli v budove, ktorá bola postavená ako Reprezentačný dom Žiliny v rokoch 1942-1944 podľa projektov moravsko-nemeckého architekta Ota Reichnera. Stavba nesie znaky talianskeho neoklasicizmu a pôvodne sa v nej nachádzali kultúrne priestory, cirkevná škola a honosná radná sieň.
Kysucké múzeum, organizácia v zriaďovateľskej pôsobnosti Žilinského samosprávneho kraja, pozýva širokú verejnosť na novú stálu expozíciu Dejiny Čadce a okolia.
