It does not matter which direction you start on this trail, you will not avoid great ascents. There is nearly zero gradient along an asphalt road from Ružomberok to Podsuchá, but it comes later. The asphalt road from Podsuchá to Smrekovica is relentless ascending; you still ride up and higher. When finally reaching the mountain hotel, it is still not the end of suffering. The asphalt road is changed by a forest road, the ascent remains, then comes the last vault through a meadow and you are up the hill. If you managed your way to this point, it is perfect. Short rides along the ridge alternate short climbs and you can enjoy the beautiful views all around. A quite long downhill ride is waiting for you to get to the end and start of the trail, first along a forest road, later along an asphalt road through the woods up to Ružomberok.
