Múzeum školstva a pedagogiky je celoštátne špecializované pracovisko rezortu školstva, jediné svojho druhu v Slovenskej republike. Bolo založené v roku 1970. Jeho zriaďovateľom je Ministerstvo školstva, vedy, výskumu a športu SR a organizačne patrí pod Centrum vedecko-technických informácií SR. Jeho poslaním je zhromažďovať, spracovávať a ochraňovať, vedecky zhodnocovať a prezentovať hmotné dokumenty z dejín školstva a pedagogiky na Slovensku ako národné kultúrne dedičstvo.
Zbierkotvorná činnosť je nosnou aktivitou múzea. Jej cieľom je získavanie hmotných školských predmetov za účelom budovania zbierkového fondu dokumentujúceho vývoj školstva a pedagogiky na Slovensku od najstarších čias po súčasnosť. V súčasnosti zbierkový fond múzea tvorí viac ako 40 000 zbierkových predmetov, ktoré každým rokom pribúdajú. Odborná ochrana zbierok spočíva predovšetkým v odbornom ošetrení, konzervovaní a reštaurovaní zbierkových predmetov. Vedecko-výskumná činnosť je zameraná na historicko-pedagogický a múzejný výskum, ktorého cieľom je poznávanie školskej minulosti. V múzeu prebiehajú vzdelávacie programy od roku 2011.
Múzeum poskytuje špecializované informačné, metodické a konzultačné služby s možnosťou bádania jednotlivých archívnych dokumentov z fondu múzea.
Na štúdium ponúkame bádateľom staré učebnice, knihy o dejinách pedagogiky, výročné správy škôl, odborné pedagogické a študentské časopisy, rôzne listinné dokumenty, fotografie a iné zbierkové predmety.
