Čičmany
The typical village ČIČMANY surrounded by the mountains Strážovské vrchy and Malá Fatra in the southern part of the valley Rajecká dolina is famous for its original log houses with the typical white ornamentation.
Visit the Museum of the White Carpathians Region, located in the village of Bohunice, which presents several permanent exhibitions. For all of them, we can mention the ethnographic exposition of hemp canvas production, the exposition dedicated to Ľudmila Podjavorinská, the exposition Genius Loci from the work of Bohunice native, academic painter Ján Matejka, or the permanent exhibition of glass from glassworks in Lednice Rovny.
In the spirit of romantic historicism, the rebuilt manor house located on the outskirts of the small village of Bohunice in the Ilava district dates from the 17th century and originally belonged to the Medňanský family. Later, its owner became Žigmund Rizner, the brother of the well-known Slovak writer Ľudmila Riznerová - Podjavorinská, who wrote some of her famous works here during her stay. At present, the manor houses the Museum of the White Carpathians Region, which presents several permanent exhibitions to visitors.
