The exhibition presents cultural-historical and contemporary parallels and differences between the two countries. It has been organized since 2016, on the occasion of the Presidency of the Slovak Republic to the Council of the EU and on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the independent Republic of Slovenia. Our two countries not only have a very similar and often confused name, but also many common features in culture and way of life. The purpose of the exhibition is to point out similarities and differences in our cultural tradition as well as in contemporary everyday life. The topic was created in cooperation between the then ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Slovakia, Bernarda Gradišnik, university teachers and students who were interested in these similarities and differences when studying the Slovenian language, Central European studies, ethnology, architecture and international relations.
The search for unifying and dividing dimensions in the exhibition proceeds through the context of statehood, the timeline of history, cultural specificities and similarities, urban spaces and mapping of the natural environment, important personalities whose destinies and works are often surprisingly parallel, rumors about castles and natural formations, in direct experience in both languages.
The opening of the exhibition takes place on June 6, 2023 from 4:30 p.m. in the premises of the Podtatranske Museum in Poprad, Vajanského 72/4 Poprad, where it is also accessible. You can visit the exhibition til July 31, 2023.
The entrance fee to the exhibition is included in the price of the museum ticket.
